So, after roughly 300 running miles on my first pair (reviewed here late in 2015) and just under 250 miles on my second pair, I wanted to provide an update regarding the longevity of the Ultra Lone Peak 2.5. While I have loved these shoes during their peak performance, it seems the peak performance life space is very short. For both shoes, I have blown holes in the (inner) side-wall at the 250 (second pair) to 300 (first pair) mile mark. While I can still run in them with the hole, the other issue I have had is with relatively quick degradation and compression of the inner sole. Basically, in both shoes, I have deep and uneven trenches that have formed right wear I land on my forefoot, in the shoe. They result in pretty tender feet after even a short 8 - 11 mile trail run. So, if you don't mind having to spend another 120 bucks every 250 - 300 miles, which can be as often as every 1 - 2 months, then I still think these are a great shoe. They just simply don't hold up for very long. Hopefully, when the new version comes out in July, the price will come down for the 2.5s. (Side note - I have tried the Superiors and found them to be too narrow in the toe box for my liking. I also tried the original Olympus and the newest version (the 2.5) and could not get my heel to lock down. ) Stay tuned for a review of the possible replacement to these shoes in the coming weeks! I am always open to specific questions or feed back so please, feel free to comment or shoot me an email. Thanks for reading! I hope this is helpful.
